Job summary

Genesis Healthcare is seeking a Nurse Educator to orient and educate nursing staff in the nursing center, ensuring safe, evidence-based patient care in accordance with federal and state guidelines.

The role reports to the Director of Nursing and involves developing education programs, supervising orientation, and conducting annual competency assessments to improve staff performance and patient outcomes.

Qualifications

• Must be a graduate of an accredited School of Nursing with current RN license.
• Minimum three years full-time or equivalent clinical experience preferred.
• Two years of clinical experience in long-term care nursing with one year as an educator preferred.
• Excellence in clinical nursing skills required.
• Experience in Gerontology preferred.
• Training and/or experience in adult learning preferred.

Responsibilities

• Orient and educate all nursing personnel in the nursing center.
• Ensure safe effective nursing care per federal, state, and facility guidelines, policies and procedures.
• Report to the Director of Nursing.
• Develop education programs in response to staff needs and teach staff current accepted patient care and nursing center practices.
• Supervise and monitor new nursing employees during their orientation period.
• Perform annual competency testing and evaluation and clinically appraise nursing staff performance to identify areas for education.
• Provide oversight to Employee Health Program including tuberculosis and hepatitis vaccination tracking and influenza immunizations.
