Responsibilities

• Determines the optimal allocation of present staff per shift.
• Coordinates patient care on assigned shifts and communicates concerns.
• Reviews 24 Hour Reports and changes in condition.
• Acts as administrative authority for unit operations and notifies leadership of urgent concerns.
• Receives grievances and refers to appropriate manager.
• Assists with risk assessments and investigations of injuries.
• Notifies learning needs to Nursing leadership.
• Maintains staffing by calling off and replacing for vacancies.
• Ensures rounds to monitor acutely ill patients.
• Directs staff response to emergencies and participates in drills.
• Attends Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement meetings.
