Job summary

Job Description

The NICU at Maimonides Medical Center provides high-acuity care to critically ill and premature infants, including those as early as 22 weeks gestation. NICU nurses will care for patients with conditions like prematurity, respiratory distress syndrome (RDS), and persistent pulmonary hypertension of the newborn (PPHN). They also support high-risk deliveries and neonatal surgeries, requiring advanced monitoring and intervention for complex neonatal patients.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-acuity care to critically ill and premature neonates, including management of respiratory therapies and medications.
• Conduct intensive monitoring and interventions for complex neonatal patients.
• Support high-risk deliveries and assist in neonatal surgeries.
• Manage neonatal lines and equipment such as PICC and feeding tubes.
• Administer and manage critical medications and infusions.
• Participate in patient care, documentation, and communication with interdisciplinary teams.

Required Experience

• 4 years of NICU experience, specifically in a Level III/IV NICU.
• Experience with extremely premature infants under 28 weeks gestation.
• Proficient in handling high-risk deliveries and complex neonatal medication management.
• Experience with advanced respiratory support, including mechanical ventilation and CPAP/BiPAP.

Certifications/Licensure

• Current BLS and NRP certifications required.
