Job summary

Mercy is seeking a Nurse Navigator (Part Time, 20 hours/week) at the Mercy Coletta Cancer Center. The navigator will coordinate care across the continuum with an advanced clinical focus, collaborating with physicians, the care team, patients, and families.

The ideal candidate is an RN with at least 2 years of related experience, oncology exposure preferred, and must hold RN licensure with BLS certification. Physical requirements include lifting up to 50 pounds and prolonged standing.

Qualifications

• RN licensed in state of practice
• BLS certification within 30 days of hire
• Preferred: BSN in Nursing
• Preferred: 3+ years oncology experience
• Experience with patient education and community education presentations is a plus

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with interdisciplinary team to manage treatment and care
• Assist patients and families across the continuum of care
• Provide patient education and support throughout treatment
• Assist with care coordination and navigation within Mercy Coletta Cancer Center

Part Time (20 hours/week)Overview: The Nurse Navigator is nursing specialist who follows patients across the continuum of care. The Navigator coordinates with an advanced level of clinical expertise, all aspects of treatment and care for, and in collaboration with, Mercy’s patients, their family and significant others, physicians, interdisciplinary team, and other support staff.

Qualifications:

• Education: Graduate from an approved school of nursing
• Preferred Education: Bachelor of Science Nursing
• Experience: 2 years related experience
• Preferred Experience: 3 years in an oncology setting, formal patient education and community educational presentations, support-group facilitation
• Licensure: RN (Registered nurse) licensed in state of practice
• Certification: BLS (Basic Life Support) is required within 30 days of hire is required
• Preferred Certification: Certification in Oncology Nursing or Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Certification
• Physical Requirements: Position requires individuals to push, pull, and/or lift 50 pounds regularly.
• Position requires prolonged standing and walking during each shift.
• Position requires the ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties.
