Job summary

Mercy is seeking a Nurse Navigator (RN) at the Mercy Coletta Cancer Center for a part-time role at 20 hours per week. You will coordinate care across the continuum, work with physicians and the care team, and provide specialized nursing support to patients and families during treatment.

The role requires RN licensure, nursing education, and experience in oncology. BLS certification is required within 30 days of hire; BSN and oncology-specific certifications are preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an approved school of nursing.
• RN licensed in state of practice; BLS certification within 30 days of hire.
• Preferred: BSN in Nursing; Oncology nursing or Chemotherapy/Biotherapy certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate care across the continuum for Mercy patients.
• Collaborate with physicians, interdisciplinary team, and support staff.
• Provide nursing expertise and patient education as part of the care team.

Overview:

The Nurse Navigator is nursing specialist who follows patients across the continuum of care. The Navigator coordinates with an advanced level of clinical expertise, all aspects of treatment and care for, and in collaboration with, Mercy's patients, their family and significant others, physicians, interdisciplinary team, and other support staff.

Qualifications:

• Education: Graduate from an approved school of nursing
• Preferred Education: Bachelor of Science Nursing
• Experience: 2 years related experience
• Preferred Experience: 3 years in an oncology setting, formal patient education and community educational presentations, support-group facilitation
• Licensure: RN (Registered nurse) licensed in state of practice
• Certification: BLS (Basic Life Support) is required within 30 days of hire is required
• Preferred Certification: Certification in Oncology Nursing or Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Certification

Physical Requirements:

• Position requires individuals to push, pull, and/or lift 50 pounds regularly.
• Position requires prolonged standing and walking during each shift.
• Position requires the ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties.
