Job summary

Mercy Coletta Cancer Center is seeking a Nurse Navigator (RN) to guide patients across the continuum of care. The navigator coordinates with clinicians, the interdisciplinary team, and family members to optimize treatment and support throughout the patient journey.

The ideal candidate will have RN licensure in the state, BLS certification within 30 days, and oncology nursing experience with a focus on patient education and community outreach.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an approved nursing program.
• BSN degree preferred.
• RN license in the practicing state and BLS certification required or obtained within 30 days of hire.
• Oncology nursing experience and patient education experience preferred.
• Chemo/biotherapy certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate care across the continuum for Mercy patients and families.
• Collaborate with physicians, interdisciplinary team and support staff to plan and deliver treatment.
• Provide nursing expertise in patient education and community presentations when applicable.

The Nurse Navigator is nursing specialist who follows patients across the continuum of care. The Navigator coordinates with an advanced level of clinical expertise, all aspects of treatment and care for, and in collaboration with, Mercy's patients, their family and significant others, physicians, interdisciplinary team, and other support staff.

Qualifications:

• Education: Graduate from an approved school of nursing
• Preferred Education: Bachelor of Science Nursing
• Experience: 2 years related experience
• Preferred Experience: 3 years in an oncology setting, formal patient education and community educational presentations, support-group facilitation
• Licensure: RN (Registered nurse) licensed in state of practice
• Certification: BLS (Basic Life Support) is required within 30 days of hire is required
• Preferred Certification: Certification in Oncology Nursing or Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Certification

Physical Requirements:

• Position requires individuals to push, pull, and/or lift 50 pounds regularly.
• Position requires prolonged standing and walking during each shift.
• Position requires the ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties.
