Job summary

Mercy is seeking a Nurse Navigator (Part Time, 20 hours/week) to guide patients through the cancer care continuum. The navigator utilizes clinical expertise to coordinate treatment plans in collaboration with patients, families, physicians, and the multidisciplinary team.

The ideal candidate is a registered nurse with a valid state license, with 2+ years of nursing experience and oncology exposure; BLS certification is required within 30 days of hire.

Qualifications

• RN license in state of practice.
• 2 years related nursing experience.
• 3 years oncology experience preferred (education and community presentations).
• BLS certification required within 30 days of hire.
• Oncology/chemo nursing certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Follows patients across the continuum of care.
• Coordinates all aspects of treatment and care in collaboration with patients, families, physicians, and the care team.

Part Time (20 hours/week)Overview: The Nurse Navigator is nursing specialist who follows patients across the continuum of care. The Navigator coordinates with an advanced level of clinical expertise, all aspects of treatment and care for, and in collaboration with, Mercy’s patients, their family and significant others, physicians, interdisciplinary team, and other support staff.

Qualifications:

• Education: Graduate from an approved school of nursing
• Preferred Education: Bachelor of Science Nursing
• Experience: 2 years related experience
• Preferred Experience: 3 years in an oncology setting, formal patient education and community educational presentations, support-group facilitation
• Licensure: RN (Registered nurse) licensed in state of practice
• Certification: BLS (Basic Life Support) is required within 30 days of hire is required
• Preferred Certification: Certification in Oncology Nursing or Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Certification
• Physical Requirements: Position requires individuals to push, pull, and/or lift 50 pounds regularly.
• Position requires prolonged standing and walking during each shift.
• Position requires the ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties.
