Job summary

Mercy Coletta Cancer Center is seeking a Nurse Navigator to coordinate care across the continuum for oncology patients. This part-time role (20 hours per week) involves collaboration with physicians, families, and the care team to ensure seamless treatment and support.

The ideal candidate is a registered nurse with oncology experience, BSN preferred, and willing to obtain BLS within 30 days of hire. This position emphasizes patient education and community outreach within Mercy’s ambulatory

Qualifications

• Graduate from an approved school of nursing.
• RN license in the state of practice.
• BLS certification required within 30 days of hire.
• Oncology nursing experience is preferred (3 years) and patient education/comm presentations beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate care across the continuum of treatment and support.
• Collaborate with physicians, family, and interdisciplinary team.
• Educate patients and families; support group facilitation as needed.

Overview:The Nurse Navigator is nursing specialist who follows patients across the continuum of care. The Navigator coordinates with an advanced level of clinical expertise, all aspects of treatment and care for, and in collaboration with, Mercy’s patients, their family and significant others, physicians, interdisciplinary team, and other support staff.

Qualifications:

• Education: Graduate from an approved school of nursing
• Preferred Education: Bachelor of Science Nursing
• Experience: 2 years related experience
• Preferred Experience: 3 years in an oncology setting, formal patient education and community educational presentations, support-group facilitation
• Licensure: RN (Registered nurse) licensed in state of practice
• Certification: BLS (Basic Life Support) is required within 30 days of hire is required
• Preferred Certification: Certification in Oncology Nursing or Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Certification

Physical Requirements:

• Position requires individuals to push, pull, and/or lift 50 pounds regularly.
• Position requires prolonged standing and walking during each shift.
• Position requires the ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties.
