Job summary

Cynet HealthStaff seeks an RN - Medical Surgical for a 13-week assignment in Idaho. The RN will work 12-hour nights (7 PM to 7 AM) in Medical Surgical, with typical patient ratios around 1:5 and occasional 1:6, on a travel-friendly unit.

Requires minimum 2 years Med-Surg experience, a valid nursing license, BLS and EKG certification, and EPIC experience. Must be able to read telemetry and be willing to precept students and fellow travelers.

Responsibilities

  • RN will work 12-hour nights in Medical Surgical with a 1:5 patient ratio (occasional 1:6).
  • Care for patients including total joints, orthopedic surgeries, and urology procedures.
  • Handle general surgeries such as bowel resections and complex cases.
  • Travelers may float between similar units and possibly to the emergency department as needed.

Description:

Department: Medical Surgical

Nurse to Patient Ratios: 1:5, occasional 1:6, very rarely happens.

Common diagnoses/Types of patients include total joints, orthopedic surgeries, and urology procedures.

General surgeries include bowel resections and complicated surgeries.

Experience with medical overflow patients, including COPD, behavioral health, sepsis, and infections is preferred.

Charge Nurse is present on each shift and very rarely takes patients unless necessary.

There are nurse aides/patient care technicians available on the unit.

Respiratory equipment includes CPAP and BiPAP managed by respiratory therapists.

RNs are required to read and interpret their own telemetry strips.

Shifts are 12 hours, with a scheduling process that does not guarantee block scheduling.

Weekend and holiday shifts will be required based on departmental needs.

Travelers may float between similar units and may also float to the emergency department for holds or 1:1 support.

Dress code: Any clean and professional color is acceptable.

Orientation includes general training and unit-specific training with a preceptor.
