Job summary

Corewell Health is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for the Gerber Hospital Med Surg unit. The role is full time, night shift (7:00 p.m.–7:30 a.m.), with a 36-hour weekly schedule at Gerber Hospital in Fremont.

You will deliver nursing care, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and uphold ANA standards in a busy hospital setting. Qualifications include ADN required, BSN within 5 years, MI RN license, and BLS (90 days) with ACLS within 6 months.

Qualifications

• Associates in Nursing required.
• Bachelor's in Nursing required within 5 years.
• MI Registered Nurse (RN) required.
• AHA/ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 90 days.
• AHA ACLS required within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Deliver nursing care per ANA standards and Michigan law.
• Demonstrate competency through the nursing process (assess, diagnose, plan, implement, evaluate).
• Uphold ethical practice, communication, collaboration, and professional responsibilities.
• Provide safe, patient-centered care during night shift with quality outcomes.

About the unit Gerber Med Surg

About the unit Gerber Med Surg is 13 beds. 4 are observation and 9 are inpatient. The unit is currently undergoing a refresh, new paint, flooring, and artwork in the halls and patient rooms, in addition to a new nurses station, breakroom and staff bathroom. Gerber Med Surg is home to our largest patient population and is a cornerstone of the hospital. We offer telemedicine services in pulmonology, neurology, infectious disease, and wound. Coming soon to Gerber are telemedicine palliative care services. We have MRI services 6 days a week, CT, fluoroscopy, general and orthopedic surgery, care management, medical social workers all on site, a huge push for the Gerber team is to help keep quality care local.

About the unit Gerber ICU

About the unit Gerber ICU is 11 beds, 2 of those are observation beds, 9 are inpatient beds. The ICU is going to be refreshed with new paint, flooring, and artwork. It is a mixed unit, so Med/Surg and ICU patients are both present. We offer telemedicine services in pulmonology, neurology, infectious disease, wound, and VICU. Coming soon to Gerber is telemedical palliative care services. We have MRI services 6 days a week, CT, fluoroscopy, general surgery, and orthopedic surgery, care management, medical social workers all on site. A huge push for the Gerber team is to help keep quality care local.

Scope of work

Delivers nursing care responsibly and accountably as described professionally by the American Nurses Association (ANA) and legally by the State of Michigan. Demonstrates competency through the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. This includes assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Upholds the standards of professional performance as described by the ANA. This includes ethical practice, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice and research, quality of practice, professional practice evaluation, resource utilization and environmental health. Strives to achieve optimal outcomes.

Qualifications

• Associates in Nursing Required
• Bachelors in Nursing Required within 5 years
• MI Registered Nurse (RN) Required
• AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) Required within 90 days
• AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Required within 6 months
