Job summary

Corewell Health is seeking a part-time ICU nurse for Gerber Hospital. The role involves delivering compassionate nursing care in a mixed Med/Surg and ICU unit, with telemedicine support and on-site imaging and surgical services nearby. You will work daytime shifts, 24 hours per week, across 7:00 a.m.

to 7:30 p.m. weekends on a rotating basis, aligning with the unit’s staffing needs. The ideal candidate holds an Associate and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, is a Michigan RN, and has BLS; ACLS

Qualifications

• Associates in Nursing required.
• Bachelors in Nursing required within 5 years MI.
• MI Registered Nurse (RN) required.
• AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 90 days.
• AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) required within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Delivers nursing care responsibly and accountably as described by the ANA and the State of Michigan.
• Demonstrates competency through the nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, evaluation.
• Upholds standards of professional practice, ethics, communication, collaboration, and education.

About the unit

Gerber ICU is 11 beds, 2 of those are observation beds, 9 are inpatient beds. The ICU is going to be refreshed with new paint, flooring, and artwork. It is a mixed unit, so Med/Surg and ICU patients are both present. We offer telemedicine services in pulmonology, neurology, infectious disease, wound, and VICU. Coming soon to Gerber is telemedical palliative care services. We have MRI services 6 days a week, CT, fluoroscopy, general surgery, and orthopedic surgery, care management, medical social workers all on site. A huge push for the Gerber team is to help keep quality care local.

Scope of work

Delivers nursing care responsibly and accountably as described professionally by the American Nurses Association (ANA) and legally by the State of Michigan. Demonstrates competency through the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. This includes assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Upholds the standards of professional performance as described by the ANA. This includes ethical practice, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence‑based practice and research, quality of practice, professional practice evaluation, resource utilization and environmental health. Strives to achieve optimal outcomes.
