Description:The role involves providing patient-centered care in the Medical Surgical Intensive Care Unit.The unit includes 12 ICU beds and 6 Stepdown beds.ICU beds are monitored 24/7.Acting as the primary coordinator for all disciplines to ensure well-coordinated patient care is essential.The RN will implement and monitor patient care plans.Monitoring, recording, and effectively communicating patient conditions are key responsibilities.Notes and carries out physician and nursing orders.Assessing and coordinating patient discharge planning needs with the healthcare team are part of the role.Patient ratios are 1:2-3 in ICU based on acuity and 1:4 in the Stepdown unit.A monitor technician is available 24/7 to support the unit.Patient care technicians and sitters may also be utilized as the census warrants.The unit employs Spacelab bedside monitors for patient care.There may be overflow patients handled by both units.
