7pm-7am - 36 hour week.

Job Summary

The RN Clinical Nurse is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team of licensed and unlicensed care givers who ensure that patients, families and significant others receive individualized high quality, safe patient care. They practice in a clinical environment that is administered by Nurse Managers and other leaders and is supported through the Wellstar Shared Governance Model. The framework for practice is steered by the Wellstar Professional Practice Model and evidence-based practice and research. RN competencies are derived from these models and supported by the Wellstar Values.

All RN Clinical Nurses are expected to be licensed, knowledgeable, and uphold the practice of nursing as outlined by the Georgia Professional Nurse Practice Act. They must implement the Scope of Practice and Code of Ethics Standards put forth by the American Nurses Association. As members of the patient services team, they uphold the voice of the patient, adhere to system policies and procedures, and support service excellence goals.

Core Responsibilities And Essential Functions

  • Performs the Nursing Process (assessment; diagnosis; identification of outcomes; planning; implementation and evaluation) using evidence-based practice, analytical/critical thinking, and individualized care, coordinating care through effective partnerships.
  • Provides relationship-based, patient-centered care tailored to population-specific characteristics (e.g., age, gender, disease), reflecting cultural diversity.
  • Partners with patients and significant others through methods like bedside shift reports, interdisciplinary rounds, patient teaching, and keeping patients' goals central to the care plan.
  • Practices according to current clinical standards.

Teamwork and Collaboration

  • Coordinates safe, quality patient care documentation and delivery, promoting respectful and inclusive interdisciplinary communication and a positive clinical environment.
  • Demonstrates teamwork by practicing responsibly, promoting staff recruitment and retention.
  • Supports performance improvement, research, and shared governance activities to promote safe, quality care.

Professional Development and Initiative

  • Completes all required professional competency assessments, mandatory education, and population-specific training.
  • Serves as preceptor or mentor to ensure a qualified workforce and a healthy work environment.

Evidence-Based Practice and Research

  • Advocates for evidence-based practice, nursing research, and performance improvement.
  • Follows healthcare policies and standards, including legal, regulatory, and accreditation requirements like TJC Patient Safety Goals.
  • Participates in data collection, clinical questions, and uses evidence to improve practice.

Resources and Support

  • Plans patient care proactively across the continuum.
  • Develops protocols and procedures collaboratively to improve outcomes.
  • Supports efficient resource use.

Performs other duties as assigned and complies with all organizational policies and standards.

Minimum Education

  • Associates or Bachelors in Nursing preferred.

Minimum Licenses and Certifications

  • Registered Nurse (Single State) or RN - Multi-state Compact
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Experience
