This RN Medsurg role is on our Oncology Unit here at Cobb Hospital.

Shift: 7pm-7am - 36 hour week.

Sign-on Bonus and Relocation Assistance are available for eligible candidates.

Job Summary

The RN Clinical Nurse is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team of licensed and unlicensed caregivers who ensure that patients, families, and significant others receive individualized, high-quality, safe patient care. They practice in a clinical environment administered by Nurse Managers and other leaders, supported through the Wellstar Shared Governance Model. The practice is guided by the Wellstar Professional Practice Model, evidence-based practice, and research. RN competencies are derived from these models and supported by the Wellstar Values.

All RN Clinical Nurses are expected to be licensed, knowledgeable, and uphold the practice of nursing as outlined by the Georgia Professional Nurse Practice Act, implementing the Scope of Practice and Code of Ethics Standards set forth by the American Nurses Association. As members of the patient services team, they uphold the voice of the patient, adhere to system policies and procedures, and support service excellence goals.

Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions
  • Performs the Nursing Process (assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation) using evidence-based practice, analytical/critical thinking, and individualized care, coordinating through effective partnerships.
  • Provides relationship-based, patient-centered care tailored to population-specific characteristics (e.g., age, gender, disease), reflecting an understanding of cultural diversity.
  • Partners with patients and significant others through methods like bedside shift reports, interdisciplinary rounds, patient teaching, and keeping patients' goals central to the care plan.
  • Practices according to current clinical standards.
Teamwork and Collaboration
  • Coordinates safe, quality patient care and documentation, promoting a respectful, inclusive environment through diverse communication methods.
  • Demonstrates teamwork by practicing responsibly and promoting staff recruitment and retention.
  • Supports performance improvement activities, research, and shared governance at all levels.
Professional Development and Initiative
  • Completes professional competency assessments, mandatory education, and population-specific training.
  • Serves as a preceptor or mentor to ensure a qualified workforce and a healthy work environment.
Evidence-Based Practice and Research
  • Promotes evidence-based practice, nursing research, and performance improvement activities.
  • Upholds organizational policies, standards, and compliance with legal, regulatory, and accreditation requirements.
  • Participates in data collection, formulates clinical questions, and uses evidence to improve practice.
Resources and Support
  • Plans patient care proactively across the continuum.
  • Contributes to protocol and procedure development to improve outcomes.
  • Supports efficient resource use.

Performs other duties as assigned and complies with all policies, standards, and codes of conduct.

Minimum Education
  • Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (Preferred)
Licenses and Certifications
  • Registered Nurse (Single State) or RN - Multi-state Compact
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) - Instructor required upon hire
Experience
  • Less than 1 year of clinical experience or completion of an accredited nursing program with required clinical hours.
