Shift: 7pm-7am - 36 hour week.

Job Summary

The RN Clinical Nurse is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team of licensed and unlicensed care givers who ensure that patients, families, and significant others receive individualized, high-quality, safe patient care. They practice in a clinical environment that is administered by Nurse Managers and other leaders and is supported through the Wellstar Shared Governance Model. The framework for practice is steered by the Wellstar Professional Practice Model and evidence-based practice and research. RN competencies are derived from these models and supported by the Wellstar Values.

It is expected that all RN Clinical Nurses are licensed, knowledgeable, and uphold the practice of nursing as outlined by the Georgia Professional Nurse Practice Act. They implement the Scope of Practice and Code of Ethics Standards put forth by the American Nurses Association. As a member of the patient services team, they uphold the voice of the patient, system policies, and procedures while supporting service excellence goals.

Core Responsibilities And Essential Functions

  • Performs the Nursing Process (assessment; diagnosis; identification of outcomes; planning; implementation and evaluation) using evidence-based practice, analytical/critical thinking, and individualized care, coordinating through effective partnerships.
  • Provides relationship-based, patient-centered care that considers population-specific characteristics (e.g., age, gender, disease) and reflects cultural diversity.
  • Partners with patients and significant others using appropriate communication methods (e.g., bedside report, rounds, patient teaching), keeping the patient and their goals central to the care plan.
  • Practices using current clinical standards.

Teamwork and Collaboration

  • Coordinates delivery and documentation of safe, quality care promoting professional care delivery, including interdisciplinary communication and timely documentation.
  • Demonstrates teamwork by practicing responsibly and fostering a positive work environment that supports recruitment and retention.
  • Participates in performance improvement activities, research, and shared governance to enhance patient safety and quality care.

Professional Development and Initiative

  • Completes all competency assessments, mandatory education, and population-specific training.
  • Serves as a preceptor and/or mentor to ensure a qualified workforce and a healthy work environment.

Evidence-Based Practice and Research

  • Promotes evidence-based practice, research, and performance improvement, participating in data collection and clinical inquiries.
  • Adheres to healthcare policies, standards, and regulatory requirements, including safety goals.

Resources and Support

  • Plans for patient care across the continuum and develops protocols to improve outcomes.
  • Supports efficient use of resources.

Performs other duties as assigned and complies with all organizational policies and standards.

Minimum Education

  • Associates or Bachelors in Nursing (preferred).

Licenses and Certifications

Experience
