4D is a 22‑bed Medical‑Surgical unit at Blodgett Hospital that offers comprehensive care for a diverse range of general medical and surgical patients in a collaborative and supportive environment. Employees are attracted to our Med/Surg units for the variety of patient cases and strong sense of teamwork, allowing them to develop expertise in managing a wide array of medical and surgical conditions.
Our unit cares for patients with nasogastric tubes, urinary catheters, enteral and parenteral feeding needs, wounds, tubes, drains, some post‑operative recovery, chronic conditions such as diabetes and hypertension, and infectious diseases requiring isolation and specialized care.

Delivers nursing care responsibly and accountably as described professionally by the American Nurses Association (ANA) and legally by the State of Michigan. Demonstrates competency through the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. Includes assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Upholds the standards of professional performance described by the ANA, including ethical practice, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence‑based practice and research, quality of practice, professional practice evaluation, resource utilization and environmental health. Strives to achieve optimal outcomes.
Primary Location: Blodgett Hospital – 1840 Wealthy St SE, Grand Rapids.
Department: Med Surg Care Unit 4D.
Employment Type: Part time.
Shift: Night (United States of America).
Weekly Scheduled Hours: 24.
Hours of Work: 7:00 pm to 7:30 am.
Days Worked: Variable days in a set 6‑week core schedule.
Weekend Frequency: Every other weekend.
