Overview

About This Unit: 3H is a 22-bed Neuroscience/Spine unit at Blodgett Hospital that specializes in the care of patients with neurological conditions, stroke, and spinal surgeries such as fusions and laminectomies. Employees work with a variety of patients and develop expertise in stroke care, wound and drain management, and post-operative recovery. A unique skill for this unit is the utilization of the NIHSS Stroke Scale.

Scope of Work

Delivers nursing care responsibly and accountably as described by the American Nurses Association (ANA) and legally by the State of Michigan. Demonstrates competency through the nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Upholds ANA standards of professional performance, including ethical practice, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice and research, quality of practice, professional practice evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health. Strives to achieve optimal outcomes.
