Job summary

PowerBack Rehabilitation is seeking an MDS Nurse -- RN to manage Medicare/Medicaid case-mix documentation and reimbursement within a long-term care setting. You will coordinate MDS assessments, ensure accurate submissions, and guide staff on MDS terminology and processes.

The role requires an RN license, 1 year of LTC experience, and knowledge of MDS/case-mix systems, with opportunities for professional growth and impact on resident care.

Qualifications

• RN graduate with current licensure in the state of employment.
• At least one year of long-term care clinical nursing experience.
• Experience with Medicare/Medicaid reimbursement, MDS completion, and case management is highly desirable.
• Must maintain current BLS/CPR certification (excluding ALFs/ILFs).

Responsibilities

• Maintain an accurate schedule of all MDS assessments and ensure timely submission of MDS assessments, case-mix, OBRA and OSRA requirements.
• Perform concurrent MDS reviews to optimize RUGs categories and potential reimbursement opportunities.
• Communicate case-mix data required for billing (RUGs categories, modifiers, state case-mix scores) to the Business Office.
• Serve as the nursing center resource for MDS/RUGs and state case-mix systems with staff education on MDS terminology.
