Job summary

Piedmont Walton Hospital’s Labor & Delivery team is a dedicated, 7-bed unit that handles 30–40 deliveries per month, spanning triage, labor, surgical delivery, recovery, postpartum, newborn care, and gynecologic needs.

The staff nurse provides comprehensive nursing care, coordinates multidisciplinary activities, and adheres to professional standards. RN licensure in Georgia and BCLS are required, with a BSN preferred for this role.

Qualifications

• Graduate from a recognized, accredited school of nursing (Required)
• Bachelor’s Degree preferred
• Georgia RN licensure required (or compact licensure)

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to patients from birth through the lifecycle using the nursing process
• Coordinate patient care activities of all assigned staff to ensure quality care

Our 7-bed unit, with an integrated OR and PACU, supports 30–40 deliveries each month and provides comprehensive care for a wide range of patients and obstetric needs—from triage and labor to surgical delivery, recovery, postpartum, newborn nursery, and gynecologic care.

Our team thrives on strong prioritization, professionalism, and collaboration to provide safe, patient-centered care. Staffing ratios are thoughtfully guided by patient acuity and volume: 1:1 in active labor and OR/recovery, 2:1 for patients on magnesium therapy, and 3:1 for couplet care. These ratios reflect our commitment to maintaining the highest standards while adjusting to clinical realities as needed.

Responsibilities

The staff nurse provides nursing care to patients from birth through the lifecycle utilizing nursing processes to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate the care for patients. He/she functions within the framework of the policies and procedures of the organization and demonstrates professional growth and accountability. The staff nurse is responsible for maintaining standards of practice, coordinating patient care activities of all assigned staff in the provision of quality nursing care.

Qualifications

Education

• Graduate from a recognized, accredited school of nursing Required
• Bachelor’s Degree Preferred

Work Experience

• No experience required New Graduates of a nursing program eligible Required
• Nursing Experience in Hospital Setting Preferred
• 1 year in a hospital setting for PRN positions Preferred

Licenses and Certifications

• RN - Registered Nurse - Georgia State Licensure and/or NLC/eNCL Multistate Licensure Current License in the State of Georgia as a Registered Nurse or NLC/eNCL Multistate License. Required and
• BCLS - Basic Life Support Required
• Advanced certification in field of specialty, if applicable (see addendum)
