Job summary

Piedmont Walton Hospital is recruiting for a Staff Nurse to join the Labor & Delivery team. The 7-bed unit supports 30-40 deliveries monthly, spanning triage, labor, surgical delivery, recovery, postpartum, newborn care, and gynecologic services.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
• Georgia RN licensure and/or NLC/eNLC multistate licensure required.
• BCLS (Basic Life Support) required.
• New graduates eligible; no experience required; hospital experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to patients from birth through the lifecycle using the nursing process.
• Coordinate patient care activities of all assigned staff in the unit.
• Maintain standards of practice and accountability within organizational policies.
• Support safe, patient-centered care in a 7-bed Labor & Delivery unit with an integrated OR and PACU.

Our 7-bed unit, with an integrated OR and PACU, supports 30-40 deliveries each month and provides comprehensive care for a wide range of patients and obstetric needs-from triage and labor to surgical delivery, recovery, postpartum, newborn nursery, and gynecologic care.

Our team thrives on strong prioritization, professionalism, and collaboration to provide safe, patient-centered care. Staffing ratios are thoughtfully guided by patient acuity and volume: 1:1 in active labor and OR/recovery, 2:1 for patients on magnesium therapy, and 3:1 for couplet care. These ratios reflect our commitment to maintaining the highest standards while adjusting to clinical realities as needed.

Responsibilities:

The staff nurse provides nursing care to patients from birth through the lifecycle utilizing nursing processes to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate the care for patients. He/she functions within the framework of the policies and procedures of the organization and demonstrates professional growth and accountability. The staff nurse is responsible for maintaining standards of practice, coordinating patient care activities of all assigned staff in the provision of quality nursing care.

Qualifications:

Education

• Graduate from a recognized, accredited school of nursing Required
• Bachelor's Degree Preferred

Work Experience

• No experience required New Graduates of a nursing program eligible Required
• Nursing Experience in Hospital Setting Preferred
• 1 year in a hospital setting for PRN positions Preferred

Licenses and Certifications

• RN - Registered Nurse - Georgia State Licensure and/or NLC/eNCL Multistate Licensure Current License in the State of Georgia as a Registered Nurse or NLC/eNCL Multistate License. Required and
• BCLS - Basic Life Support Required
• Advanced certification in field of specialty, if applicable (see addendum)
