Job summary

Piedmont Walton Hospital is seeking a dedicated Labor & Delivery nurse to join a 7-bed unit with an integrated OR and PACU, delivering comprehensive obstetric care from triage to postpartum. The role emphasizes teamwork, patient-centered care, and clinical excellence in a high-acuity setting.

The staff nurse will support delivery to discharge, with ratios and care plans guided by patient acuity. BLS and state RN licensure are required, with new graduates eligible and additional certifications

Qualifications

• Graduate of a nursing program.
• New graduates eligible.
• Current Georgia RN license or NLC Multistate License.
• BLS certification required.
• For PRN positions: One year of nursing experience in a hospital setting preferred.
• Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Advanced certification in field of specialty, if applicable (see addendum).
• Nursing Experience in Hospital Setting Preferred

Responsibilities

• The staff nurse provides nursing care to patients from birth through the lifecycle utilizing nursing processes to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate the care for patients.
• The staff nurse coordinates patient care activities of all assigned staff in the provision of quality nursing care.
• Maintains standards of practice and demonstrates professional growth and accountability.

Our 7-bed unit, with an integrated OR and PACU, supports 30-40 deliveries each month and provides comprehensive care for a wide range of patients and obstetric needs-from triage and labor to surgical delivery, recovery, postpartum, newborn nursery, and gynecologic care.

Our team thrives on strong prioritization, professionalism, and collaboration to provide safe, patient-centered care. Staffing ratios are thoughtfully guided by patient acuity and volume: 1:1 in active labor and OR/recovery, 2:1 for patients on magnesium therapy, and 3:1 for couplet care. These ratios reflect our commitment to maintaining the highest standards while adjusting to clinical realities as needed.

MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED:

• Graduate of a nursing program

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

• New Graduates of a nursing program eligible

MINIMUM LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY LAW:

• Current License in the State of Georgia as a Registered Nurse or NLC/eNLC Multistate License.
• BLS certification required.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
