Job summary

Piedmont Walton Hospital is seeking a dedicated Labor & Delivery Staff Nurse to provide comprehensive care for obstetric patients from triage through postpartum, newborn care, and gynecologic services. A 7-bed unit with integrated OR/PACU supports 30-40 deliveries monthly, with staffing ratios prioritizing patient acuity and safety.

Qualifications include graduation from an accredited nursing program, GA RN licensure, and BCLS certification.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited nursing program; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• RN licensure in Georgia and BCLS certification required.
• New graduates eligible; hospital experience preferred; 1 year for PRN positions preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care across birth to lifecycle using nursing process to assess, plan, implement and evaluate care.
• Coordinate patient care activities with assigned staff to ensure quality care and standards.

Our team thrives on strong prioritization, professionalism, and collaboration to provide safe, patient-centered care. Staffing ratios are thoughtfully guided by patient acuity and volume: 1:1 in active labor and OR/recovery, 2:1 for patients on magnesium therapy, and 3:1 for couplet care. These ratios reflect our commitment to maintaining the highest standards while adjusting to clinical realities as needed.

Responsibilities:

The staff nurse provides nursing care to patients from birth through the lifecycle utilizing nursing processes to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate the care for patients. He/she functions within the framework of the policies and procedures of the organization and demonstrates professional growth and accountability. The staff nurse is responsible for maintaining standards of practice, coordinating patient care activities of all assigned staff in the provision of quality nursing care.

Education

• Graduate from a recognized, accredited school of nursing Required
• Bachelor's Degree Preferred

Work Experience

• No experience required New Graduates of a nursing program eligible Required
• Nursing Experience in Hospital Setting Preferred
• 1 year in a hospital setting for PRN positions Preferred

Licenses and Certifications

• RN - Registered Nurse - Georgia State Licensure and/or NLC/eNCL Multistate Licensure Current License in the State of Georgia as a Registered Nurse or NLC/eNCL Multistate License. Required and
• BCLS - Basic Life Support Required
• Advanced certification in field of specialty, if applicable (see addendum)
