Position: Registered Nurse (RN) - Part Time, Nights in the Labor and Delivery Unit at Northwest Health - La Porte Hospital

• Part time: 24 hours per week, 12 hour shifts
• Hours: 7p-7a
• Weekend and holiday rotation required

• 8 Private Rooms for Labor, Delivery, & Recovery
• 2 Post-Partum Stay Rooms
• 2 Large Labor Tub Rooms
• OR for C-Sections
• 8 Bassinets

Our 227-bed hospital provides comprehensive acute care with strong programs in cardiology, orthopedics, surgical services, emergency care, oncology, and maternal health.

Job Summary

The RN provides patient-centered care through assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The role involves coordinating and delivering high-quality care based on clinical protocols and physician orders, collaborating with healthcare professionals to ensure effective patient outcomes in a compassionate environment.

Essential Functions:

• Coordinate and deliver patient-centered care per policies and the nursing process.
• Conduct assessments, document findings, and report changes.
• Provide age-appropriate care and education, administer medications, and assist in procedures.
• Develop and evaluate care plans collaboratively.
• Respond to emergencies, perform CPR and participate in code team activities.
• Advocate for patient rights and provide education on medical conditions and post-discharge care.
• Follow infection control protocols and operate medical equipment safely.
• Maintain a safe environment, participate in audits, and document care thoroughly.
• Engage in professional development and quality improvement initiatives.

Qualifications:

• 0-2 years of clinical nursing experience or student rotations in acute care required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Strong nursing process knowledge, assessment skills, and effective communication.
• Proficiency in medication administration, safety standards, and documentation.

Licenses and Certifications:

• RN license (state or compact)
• BCLS required; ACLS, PALS, NRP preferred
