Job summary

Johns Hopkins Intrastaff is seeking a Specialty Nurse for a 13-week contract at Sibley Memorial Hospital in Washington, DC. A current DC license (or compact state eligibility) is required, plus CPR certification and at least 2 years of Labor and Delivery or Postpartum experience.

The nurse will apply nursing process and theory to advance patient care as an expert clinician and educator, coordinating care across inpatient and outpatient settings while leading a multidisciplinary team to promote

The Specialty Nurse practices as an expert in the application of the nursing process and theory within a specialty area. The primary responsibility of the Specialty Nurse is to advance patient care directly in the role of expert clinical practitioner and patient educator; and indirectly in the roles of educator and consultant.
Schedule: Contract 13 weeks
Location: Sibley Memorial Hospital - MUST HAVE D.C. LICENSE
Payrate: $65
Facilitating and coordinates of programs that may include hospital inpatients, outpatients, families, community, and employees of both the hospital and the university by providing evidence-based care based on the nursing process, policies, procedures, and protocols of the Johns Hopkins Hospital.
Providing direction to/management of other team members to promote quality, safety, and excellence in care.
Working collaboratively with, and providing leadership for, a multidisciplinary health care team to support program initiatives that support quality, safety, and excellence in care.
Participating in promoting and identifying quality improvement initiatives (clinical, financial, operational) that supports, protects and promotes area of specialty.
Initiating and participate in the research activities relevant to specialty area.
Implementing initiatives in area of specialty as directed by nursing and medical leadership.
Fostering a clinical environment of service excellence.
Must have current specialty certification in one of the following:

• Current registered nurse license in the state of Maryland, or licensed in a compact state, and
• Current CPR certification.
• At least 2 years of recent Labor and Delivery or Post Partum nursing experience
