Job summary

University of Maryland Medical System Corporation is seeking a Clinical Nurse for UMMS Staffing (USC). The RN will provide evidence-based, patient- and family-centered nursing care across inpatient, procedural, surgical, and ambulatory settings. The Staffing Center deploys RNs based on unit needs and competencies.

The role requires MD RN licensure, BLS, and unit-specific certifications such as ACLS/PALS/NRP. A BSN is preferred, with a minimum of two years of acute care experience.

Qualifications

• Active Maryland RN license or eligibility via the Nurse Licensure Compact.
• Current BLS certification.
• ACLS/PALS/NRP required depending on unit.
• Minimum 2 years of recent acute care nursing experience within the past 12 months.
• BSN preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct and indirect nursing care appropriate to the patient population and acuity of the assigned unit.
• Independently performs comprehensive patient assessments, implements nursing and medical interventions, evaluates patient responses, and documents care in the electronic medical record.
• Collaborates with patients, families, charge nurses, nurse managers, and interdisciplinary team members to promote continuity, safety, and quality of care.
• Safely administers medications and utilizes clinical equipment and technology in accordance with policy and validated competency.
• Delegates and supervises nursing care activities consistent with the Nurse Practice Act, organizational policy, and individual competency levels.
• Demonstrates professionalism, adaptability, and effective communication when transitioning between units and clinical settings.
• Adheres to evidence-based practice, regulatory standards, and organizational policies to promote patient safety and quality outcomes.
• Maintains current RN licensure, required certifications, and validated competencies necessary for assigned clinical settings.
