Apple Rehab Mystic is seeking an experienced RN to join as Assistant Director of Nursing Services (ADNS) and Infection Control Nurse. This dual role combines nursing leadership with infection prevention to support high-quality care in a compliant setting.

The ideal candidate has an unrestricted Connecticut RN license, 3+ years in long-term care focused on infection control and wound care, and strong organizational skills. Proficiency with EHR and related documentation software is required.

Qualifications

• Current, unrestricted RN license in Connecticut.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in long-term care, with infection control, wound care, and/or nursing leadership.
• Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems, infection control, and wound care documentation software.
• Exceptional organizational and communication skills, with a detail-oriented and proactive approach to problem-solving.
• Certification in Infection Prevention and Control (CIC) and/or Wound Care (WCC) preferred, or willingness to obtain within one year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Oversee infection prevention and control program, ensuring protocols and regulatory compliance.
• Monitor and report infection data, conduct surveillance, and implement preventive measures with clinical team.
• Provide ongoing infection control education to staff on protocols and PPE usage.
• Conduct audits and review data to identify trends and drive improvements.
• Manage wound care for residents, including assessments, treatments, and documentation.
• Develop individualized wound care plans with the clinical team for effective treatment and prevention.
• Train nursing staff on wound care best practices and preventive care.
• Audit wound care documentation and processes to maintain quality and compliance.
• Assist the DNS in daily clinical operations and management of the nursing team.
• Serve as a resource for nursing staff, offering guidance and training.
• Ensure regulatory compliance, maintain records, and support quality assurance initiatives.
• Act as acting DNS in absence of the DNS to ensure continuity of care.
