Job summary

Western State Hospital is recruiting an RN-II Shift Supervisor to provide quality nursing care and a safe therapeutic environment for a specific patient population. This role supports an interdisciplinary team across units including 2 Hickory, 1st shift (7am-7:30 pm).

The nurse will monitor care, participate in care planning, and apply recovery-focused nursing interventions in a 24/7 psychiatric hospital setting, working to facilitate discharge to less restrictive environments.

Qualifications

• Current RN license eligible to be utilized in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
• Previous psych nursing experience.
• Ability to delegate and supervise nursing staff.
• Ability to participate in interdisciplinary team; assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care.

Responsibilities

• Provide quality care as part of an interdisciplinary team.
• Maintain accountability in a safe, secure, and therapeutic environment.
• Create healthy interpersonal interactions on adult acute admissions unit, geriatric unit, and extended rehabilitation service unit.
• Observe and report feedback regarding interventions, treatments, behaviors, physical and emotional wellbeing, and other situations.
• Documenting and communicating nursing information.
• Use specialized training for promoting mental wellness recovery.
