Description:The unit has a total of 8 beds with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 3:1.Common patient diagnoses include cardiac and neurology cases.RNs are required to titrate medication drips.Charge nurses are present on each shift and take patient assignments.There are no nurse aides or patient care technicians on the unit.A hospitalist or intensivist is available in-house 24/7, and there is a resident or mid-level provider for nighttime call.Respiratory therapists manage all ventilator settings and RNs only troubleshoot equipment as needed.RNs in this unit are responsible for interpreting their own cardiac rhythms using Nihon Kohden monitors.The shift pattern includes 7a-7p or 7p-7a.Weekend and holiday shifts are required on an alternating basis.There is no call or standby requirement and no floating to other units.The dress code is flexible; any scrub color is acceptable.The number of shifts for orientation will vary based on experience.
