Job summary

Origin Travel Nurses is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for a 13-week night shift assignment in Birmingham, AL. The RN will supervise licensed practical nurses and other staff, support rehabilitation programs, and collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to ensure high-quality patient care.

Responsibilities include rapid assessments, care plan development, discharge planning, accurate documentation, and safety compliance.

Qualifications

  • BLS Certification required prior to first shift.
  • ACLS Certification required prior to first shift.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of bedside clinical experience post-graduation.
  • Experience in stepdown, ICU, or LTAC settings preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform nursing assessments within 8 hours of patient admission to develop individualized care plans.
  • Identify teaching needs and goals related to each patient's diagnosis in collaboration with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team.
  • Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately and timely in medical records.
  • Initiate discharge planning and patient education from the day of admission.
  • Communicate changes in patient status between care providers to support continuity of care.
  • Supervise and train ancillary nursing personnel, delegating tasks appropriately.
  • Ensure personal and environmental safety by adhering to hospital policies and procedures.
  • Contribute to a positive unit environment through team building and effective communication.
  • Assume charge responsibilities as requested and prioritize patient care activities.

Job Description

The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for maintaining the delivery of quality care through the adherence to nursing care plans. This role includes supervising Licensed Practical Nurses, Certified Nursing Assistants, and orientees, while embracing the values of patient and employee safety. The RN will actively participate in the rehabilitation program and communicate effectively with the interdisciplinary team to ensure seamless patient care.
