The role emphasizes leadership, continuous learning and delivering high-quality care in a team setting. Licensure in VA and BLS are required, with potential unit-based certifications; compensation aligned with nursing standards.

Qualifications

• Graduate of school of professional nursing of an accredited college or graduate of an approved program eligible to sit for the VA licensure exam.
• Currently licensed as Registered Nurse in Virginia or eligible to obtain Virginia RN licensure.
• AHA BLS-HCP required; may need to obtain/maintain BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP based on unit.
• Computer skills required for electronic medical record (EPIC).

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care for all ages to achieve optimal outcomes.
• Complete age-specific admissions and ongoing assessments to guide care planning.
• Collaborate with health care team and families to develop an age-appropriate plan of care.
• Administer and document treatments and medications using electronic records.
• Identify patient/family education needs and incorporate into the care plan.
• Contribute to performance improvement activities.
• Demonstrate patient advocacy and provide psychosocial support.
• Apply growth and development knowledge to patient care.
• Plan strategies to reduce length of stay and resource use.
• Serve as a role model and manage resources to meet patient needs.
• Support orientation of new employees and provide feedback to staff.
