Job summary

Cleveland Clinic’s M50 Pediatric Nursing Unit in Cleveland is seeking a PRN Registered Nurse to join a team caring for hematology and oncology pediatric patients, including bone marrow transplant cases. The role offers varied shifts between day and night hours.

You will provide direct nursing care, implement and adjust care plans, monitor patient status, document changes, and coordinate discharges under physician and nursing orders. A BSN is preferred and current RN license is required.

Qualifications

  • Graduate from an accredited School of Professional Nursing.
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross.
  • Within one year of hire RNs in Children's Hospital and Children's Hospital for Rehabilitation will achieve and maintain Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) through AHA with the exception of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit RNs who must achieve and maintain Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) through AHA provider status and RNs in the Special Delivery Unit, who must achieve and maintain Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through AHA.
  • Two years of recent related nursing experience for external applicants OR less than two years of experience, but post orientation/90-day probationary period considered with the Chief Nursing Officer approval for internal applicants OR military RN experience

Cleveland Clinic’s M50 Pediatric Nursing Unit is part of Cleveland Clinic Children’s and is dedicated to treating hematology and oncology pediatric patients. Caregivers on this unit provide innovative cancer and blood disorder care for children, including adolescents and young adults. M50 also provides care to pediatric bone marrow transplant patients.


This is a PRN role. A caregiver in this position will work varying shifts between 7:00am and 7:30pm or 7:00pm and 7:30am.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:


  • Provide direct nursing care.

  • Implement and monitor patient care plans.

  • Monitor, record and communicate patients’ conditions.

  • Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.

  • Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge needs.


Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:


  • Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN)


Physical Requirements:


  • Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.

  • Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.

  • Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.

  • Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.

  • Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.

  • Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

  • Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.


Personal Protective Equipment:


  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.


Pay Range

Minimum hourly: $43.00


Maximum hourly: $43.00
