Job summary

Cleveland Clinic Main Campus is seeking a dedicated nurse for the M40 Pediatric Stepdown Unit. The role involves day/night rotations (7:00am–7:30pm or 7:00pm–7:30am) and weekend work, delivering high-level pediatric care on a unit specializing in congenital heart disease and post-surgical needs.

Responsibilities include direct patient care, updating care plans, monitoring patient conditions, administering meds, coordinating discharges, and educating families.

Qualifications

  • Graduate from accredited nursing program (Diploma, ADN or BSN).
  • Current state RN licensure.
  • BLS certification through AHA or Red Cross.
  • ACLS certification through AHA (must be presented upon hire or within first year).
  • BSN degree preferred.

  • Implement, monitor, evaluate, update and revise patient care plans.
  • Monitor, record, document and communicate patients’ conditions.
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments.
  • Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.

  • Educate patients and their families.

Education

Part of Cleveland Clinic Children’s, the M40 Pediatric Stepdown Unit is dedicated to the care of children of all ages. This team focuses on treating patients with congenital heart disease and a variety of medical and surgical needs, including pre-heart transplant care. The dedicated and highly trained caregivers on this unit deliver world-class patient care through an intricate nursing care model that is rooted in evidence-based practice and always puts patients first.

A caregiver in this position works day/night rotation| 3-12hour shifts| 7:00am—7:30pm or 7:00pm—7:30am| weekend requirements.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

  • Provide direct nursing care.
  • Implement, monitor, evaluate, update and revise patient care plans.
  • Monitor, record, document and communicate patients’ conditions.
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments.
  • Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
  • Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge needs.
  • Educate patients and their families.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing (Diploma, ADN, BSN program)
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
  • *If in a Critical Care area an Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) Certification must be presented upon hire or within first year of employment
  • One-year of current acute care RN experience
  • Will consider military RN experience

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
Physical Requirements
  • Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
  • Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.
  • Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
  • Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.
  • Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.
  • Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
Personal Protective Equipment
  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
Pay Range

Minimum hourly: $35.50

Maximum hourly: $55.60
