Job summary

Cleveland Clinic Children’s Hospital for Rehabilitation is seeking an RN to join our pediatric inpatient rehabilitation team. In this PRN role, you will provide direct nursing care, implement care plans and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to support infants through young adults.

You will help educate families, monitor patient progress and ensure safe discharge planning while adhering to hospital protocols and patient-centered care principles.

Qualifications

  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through AHA or Red Cross.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within one year of hire.
  • One year of current acute care RN experience OR military RN experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care.
  • Implement and monitor patient care plans.
  • Monitor, record and communicate patients’ conditions.
  • Evaluate, update and revise the plan of care to achieve outcomes.
  • Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
  • Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge needs.
  • Educate patients and families with educational materials.
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments per nursing protocol.

At Cleveland Clinic Children’s Hospital for Rehabilitation, you’ll be part of a family-centered pediatric inpatient rehabilitation program dedicated to helping patients regain strength, independence and confidence throughout their recovery. The team provides specialized care to patients from infancy through age 21 who require hospitalization or acute rehabilitation, caring for a wide range of complex conditions, including traumatic brain injuries, epilepsy surgery recovery, spinal cord injuries, orthopedic rehabilitation needs, spinal fusions and traction, complex injuries, neurologic disorders requiring rehabilitation and burns.

In this role, you’ll work closely with pediatric patients and their families while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to provide compassionate, high-quality care throughout the patient journey. You’ll interact directly with patients, families and visitors, helping create a supportive experience while providing education, encouragement and clinical support along the way.

This PRN position offers flexibility with 4-hour, 8-hour, or 12-hour shifts, available on both days and nights.
Some weekend hours are expected, along with a commitment to work one summer holiday and one winter holiday.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
  • Provide direct nursing care.
  • Implement and monitor patient care plans.
  • Monitor, record and communicate patients’ conditions.
  • Evaluate, update and revise plan of care to facilitate achievement of planned and expected outcomes
  • Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
  • Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge needs.
  • Educate patients and family with educational materials considering cultural issues and other special concerns
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatment in accordance with approved nursing protocol
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
  • Graduate from an accredited School of Professional Nursing (Diploma, ADN or BSN program)
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) through American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross within one year of hire
  • One year of current acute care RN experience OR military RN experience
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • Rehab experience
  • Pediatric experience
Physical Requirements:
  • Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
  • Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.
  • Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
  • Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.
  • Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.
  • Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
Personal Protective Equipment:
  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
Pay Range

Minimum hourly: $43.00

Maximum hourly: $43.00
