Job summary

ChristianaCare in Newark, DE is seeking an Registered Nurse for the Heart Failure Unit (5E), a 36-bed post‑critical care cardiac unit with 12 beds for post‑operative open‑heart and LVAD patients. The RN will provide advanced assessment, hemodynamic monitoring, medication administration, patient education, and early detection of changes in condition for high‑acuity cardiac patients.

Shifts are day/midnight rotating (7A-7P & 7P-7A) with 72 hours per pay period; weekends and holidays required.

Qualifications

• BSN preferred; commitment to obtaining BSN within 3 years of date of hire.
• At least one year of experience as a Registered Nurse required.
• Previous stepdown experience preferred.
• Previous critical care experience preferred.
• BLS required; ACLS preferred.
• Delaware RN licensure or eligibility for licensure in Delaware.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to high-acuity cardiac patients.
• Perform advanced assessment and continuous hemodynamic/cardiac monitoring.
• Administer medications and educate patients and families.
• Detect early changes in patient condition and respond appropriately.

Skills

BLS required

ACLS preferred

RN experience (1 year)

Stepdown experience preferred

Critical care experience preferred

Delaware RN licensure or eligibility
