Job summary

HCA Florida Northside Hospital in Saint Petersburg is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) for the Float Pool. The RN will provide clinical expertise in medical-surgical, telemetry, and progressive care environments. This role requires a Florida RN License, nursing diploma or ASN (BSN preferred), and 1 year of acute care experience. Job description

Job Summary

Registered Nurse (RN) Float Pool – Med/Surg/PCU. Provide clinical expertise in medical-surgical, telemetry, and progressive care environments, ensuring high-quality, efficient care for all patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess, plan, intervene, and evaluate care for Med/Surg, Telemetry, and Progressive Care patients.
  • Instruct patients and families regarding medications and treatment instructions.
  • Maintain and review patient records including posting test and examination results.
  • Administer medications in accordance with physician orders.
Qualifications
  • Licensed as a Florida Registered Nurse (or appropriate compact license with an active FL RN license within 60 days).
  • Nursing Diploma or ASN required; BSN preferred.
  • Experience in an acute care setting strongly preferred.
  • Current American Heart Association BLS certification required.
  • Current American Heart Association ACLS certification required (6‑month grace period from hire date).
  • Current NIHSS certification required (6‑month grace period from hire date).
  • Additional credentials such as CCRN, ONC, PCCN, Cardiac/Vascular Nursing, Medical‑Surgical RN, or CMSRN accepted.
  • Critical thinking, service excellence, strong interpersonal communication, and PC skills.
  • No travel required.
  • 1 year of experience required.
