Job summary

Northwest Texas Healthcare System in Amarillo, TX seeks a Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA) to support intraoperative care under the surgeon and OR team. The RNFA applies specialized nursing knowledge to assist in safe operations, preoperative and postoperative care, and delegated acts.

Excellent communication, adaptability, and leadership in high-stakes environments are essential. The role requires Texas RN license, RNFA education, ACLS/BLS; CNOR preferred.

Qualifications

• Licensed as a Registered Nurse in Texas.
• Graduate of a recognized RNFA program.
• CNOR certification preferred or will obtain within 6 months of employment.
• ACLS certification upon hire and maintain certification.
• BLS certification upon hire and maintain certification.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills that enhance team functioning in the operating room.
• Maintains flexibility, sound judgment and adaptability in decision making and problem solving.
• Maintains ongoing perioperative nursing and RNFA competencies.

Responsibilities

• Assists the surgeon intraoperatively as the RNFA.
• Develops, implements, and evaluates age-appropriate plan of care using the nursing process.
• Ensures a safe environment and adheres to safety/injury prevention standards.
• Assesses risks to patient safety and applies appropriate precautions.
• Complies with organization and accrediting standards.
• Demonstrates leadership in emergency situations and in team functioning.
