Job summary

Adventist Health Lodi Memorial is seeking an experienced Operating Room First Assistant. The role requires RN licensure in the state, RNFA and CNOR certifications, and CPR/BLS with PALS preferred.

BSN is preferred and perioperative nursing experience is valued. The candidate will function as a first assistant, assist with surgical prep, procure supplies, and maintain sterile technique throughout procedures.

Qualifications

• RN licensure in the state of practice is required.
• RNFA, CNOR certifications are required for the role.
• BLS/CPR certification is required; PALS is required.
• BSN preferred; two years perioperative nursing experience preferred.
• AORN membership is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs circulating and scrubbing duties in the OR.
• Verifies surgical site prior to induction of anesthesia.
• Counts sponges, needles, and instruments per policy.
• Assists with tissue handling, vessel management, and suturing.
• Places drains and assists with cannulation/decannulation as needed.
• Positions and preps patient and maintains sterile field.
• Maintains aseptic technique and corrects breaks when observed.
• Documents nursing diagnoses, care plan, interventions and response.
