Job summary

Carle Health is seeking an RN First Assist (RNFA) to support surgeons in general and specialized operations at our California location. The role involves independent perioperative nursing, pre- and post-operative assessment, and collaboration with the OR team to ensure readiness of trays, instruments, and supplies.

The RNFA will scrub and circulate as needed and educate patients and families about procedures and aftercare.

Qualifications

• RN license (interstate requirements not specified)
• CNOR certification optional but listed in qualifications
• BLS within 30 days (AHA)

Responsibilities

• Assist surgeon in general and specialized surgeries; ensure trays, instrumentation, and supplies are ready
• Provide patient care and support
• Administer medications
• Scrub and circulate per unit needs
• Position patient on operating table and monitor vitals
• Educate patient and family on operation and aftercare
• Perform post-operative assessments and monitor for pain/complications
• Assist in room turnover and equipment coordination
