Carle Health is seeking an RN First Assist to support surgeons in a range of general and specialized surgeries. The RNFA provides perioperative nursing with independent assessment and post‑operative evaluation while collaborating with the surgeon and OR team.

The role requires a licensed RN with CNOR and RNFA program completion, plus 2+ years of perioperative nursing experience. This is a full‑time on‑site position offering a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Licensed RN required with active license in the relevant state.
• Current BLS certification; CNOR preferred or required by program.
• Perioperative nursing education and RNFA program completion.

Responsibilities

• Assist surgeon in general and specialized surgeries with prep and coordination.
• Collaborate with OR team to ensure trays, instrumentation and supplies are ready.
• Provide direct patient care and support before, during and after surgery.
• Administer medications as directed and monitor patient status.
• Perform surgical tasks such as hemostasis, suturing and tissue handling.
• Position and prepare patient on the operating table; monitor vitals.
• Educate patient and family on operation and post‑operative care.
• Document care, participate in postoperative assessments and follow‑ups.
