Job summary

The Presbyterian Family Birthing Center in Rio Rancho, NM seeks an experienced Family Birthing/Labor & Delivery RN to join the team and provide direct patient care during a 12-hour night shift.

The RN will monitor labor, delivery, and postpartum patients, perform fetal monitoring, administer medications and epidurals, and collaborate with obstetricians and midwives, following a standards-based framework.

Qualifications

  • Associate Degree in Nursing
  • State of New Mexico or Compact State Nursing License
  • BLS certification REQUIRED at time of hire
  • NRP
  • 2 Years Family Birthing/Labor and Delivery Experience REQUIRED

Responsibilities

  • Patient Care: Assess, monitor, and manage the physical and emotional well-being of patients during labor, delivery, and recovery.
  • Fetal Monitoring: Perform and interpret fetal heart rate monitoring and other diagnostic tests to ensure maternal and fetal health.
  • Collaborate with obstetricians, midwives, and other healthcare professionals during deliveries, including assisting with cesarean sections or emergency procedures.
  • Provide care and education to new mothers on breastfeeding, infant care, and postpartum recovery.
  • Administer prescribed medications, IV fluids, and epidurals while monitoring for any adverse reactions.
  • Respond quickly to obstetric emergencies, including hemorrhage, fetal distress, or neonatal complications.

In this role you will be responsible for utilizing the nursing process to provide direct patient care to an assigned group of patients during a shift.
