Job summary

Presbyterian Healthcare Services in Albuquerque, NM is hiring a compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) for our Labor and Delivery team. You will care for expectant mothers, newborns and families through labor, delivery and postpartum, with a focus on patient‑centered, evidence‑based practice.

We welcome both new graduates and experienced RNs, offering a Nurse Residency, tuition reimbursement, shift differentials, and a supportive wellness program. This full‑time role operates 12‑hour night shifts.

Qualifications

  • Associate Degree in Nursing required.
  • State NM or Compact Nursing License required.
  • BLS certification required at time of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Care for expectant mothers, newborns and families during labor and delivery.
  • Monitor fetal heart rate and perform diagnostic tests.
  • Collaborate with obstetricians and midwives during deliveries, including cesarean sections.
  • Educate new mothers on breastfeeding and infant care.
  • Administer medications, IV fluids and epidurals while monitoring for adverse reactions.
  • Respond to obstetric emergencies such as hemorrhage or fetal distress.

Type of Opportunity: Full time FTE: 0.90 Job Exempt: No Work Shift: 12 Hour Nights (United States of America)

Responsibilities:

The Registered Nurse (RN) will provide exceptional care to expectant mothers, their newborns, and families throughout the labor, delivery, and postpartum stages. This role requires a strong clinical skill set, effective communication, and the ability to respond calmly in high-pressure situations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Patient Care: Assess, monitor, and manage the physical and emotional well‑being of patients during labor, delivery, and recovery.
  • Fetal Monitoring: Perform and interpret fetal heart rate monitoring and other diagnostic tests to ensure maternal and fetal health.
  • Collaborate with obstetricians, midwives, and other healthcare professionals during deliveries, including assisting with cesarean sections or emergency procedures.
  • Provide care and education to new mothers on breastfeeding, infant care, and postpartum recovery.
  • Administer prescribed medications, IV fluids, and epidurals while monitoring for any adverse reactions.
  • Respond quickly to obstetric emergencies, including hemorrhage, fetal distress, or neonatal complications.
