Description:Unit Type: Emergency Room.This is a Level IV Trauma Center.Capable of handling 18 beds in the ER, expanding to 21 beds when necessary.Currently seeing approximately 60 patients per day.The unit focuses on a variety of typical ER patients including CHF, COPD, and pediatric cases.Behavioral health cases are managed during the day.All staff must adhere to non-smoking policies on campus.All travelers will be required to manage and titrate drips except for chemotherapy.The unit operates with a nurse to patient ratio of 1:3-4.Charge nurse coverage is available 24/7, with responsibilities including triage.A monitor tech is on duty 24/7 for ECG support.Registered Nurses are responsible for their own lab draws and IV sticks unless assistance is needed.Respiratory therapy is available 24/7 on-site.Pharmacy services are provided during certain hours, with RNs responsible for mixing drips after hours.The unit utilizes Phillips cardiac monitors and expects RNs to monitor and treat dysrhythmias.Self-scheduling is available based on the needs of the department, though not guaranteed.Atire must be neat and clean, with specific color requirements for scrubs.Excessive or inappropriate tattoos must be covered.All staff must maintain a professional appearance with natural hair colors only.Weekend shifts are scheduled based on unit needs, usually requiring 4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule.Travelers must participate in a holiday rotation that includes major and minor holidays.
