Description:This position requires experience in an emergency department.The facility is not a trauma center and does not have a cath lab or stroke center.Patients with trauma, cardiac, or stroke conditions are stabilized and transferred.There are 25 beds in the emergency room.Fast track services are available.A separate triage area is present, but travelers are not required to do triage.Patient holds are managed within the same area as other emergency room patients.There are separate rooms for psychiatric purposes.Security is present in-house 24/7.The average number of patients treated in the emergency room daily is around 100.The nurse-to-patient ratio is typically 1:4 to 1:5.Common diagnoses and types of patients include a variety of emergency situations.Registered nurses will handle all critical emergency department drips.Both physicians and mid-level providers are available in the emergency room.Charge nurses may take patient assignments as needed.Nurse aides, EMTs, paramedics, and patient sitters are part of the team.The electronic medical record system used is Meditech.Respiratory therapy performs breathing treatments, and registered nurses conduct lab draws.There is no designated monitor tech; however, the charge nurse monitors patient strips.Patients requiring X-rays or CT scans can be transported just outside the emergency room.Weekend and holiday shifts are required.Travelers do not float to other units.The dress code is navy blue scrubs.Unit-specific orientation is provided.There is a cancellation policy in place for shifts.
