Description:The position requires working in a high-volume emergency room environment.The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4.Typical patient volume is over 45 patients per day.Triage responsibilities are included, and there is a separate triage area.The unit provides care for various common diagnoses including abdominal pain, chest pain, fever, cough, dyspnea, headache, and extremity injuries.Nurses work collaboratively with a charge nurse, who takes patient assignments.In-house security is available 24/7 and is located within the emergency room.The unit has dedicated psych and seclusion rooms.Nurses are expected to troubleshoot equipment such as vents and high-flow devices.Both registered nurses and phlebotomy staff may draw labs.Weekend work is expected, with a minimum of six shifts in a six-week schedule.Holidays are also required as part of the schedule.Floating may occur within designated zones in cases of extreme need.Self-scheduling and block scheduling options are available for shifts.The charting system used is EPIC.This position does not require a BSN.
