Description:The staff nurse provides direct care to patients using the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.The goal is to address the physical, psycho-social, safety, rehabilitative, and learning needs of patients and their families.This role involves collaboration with nursing peers, co-workers, attending physicians, and allied support services.The position requires managing the care of assigned patients and directing the activities of ancillary staff.Nursing staff must respond to traumas, strokes, STEMI, and basic medical emergencies.The Emergency Department cares for all patients presenting for emergency services.Interdisciplinary support includes various services such as physical therapy, respiratory therapy, interpretation services, and social services.The patient age groups served include neonates, adolescents, infants, adults, pediatrics, and geriatrics.The department typically handles a daily census of 25 patients with approximately 60 visits per day.It is expected that nursing staff will possess the skills for various emergency conditions and treatments.This position involves a weekend rotation; no on-call requirement is present.Nurses will utilize their clinical skills and judgment in emergency response situations.
