Qualifications

• BSN preferred; RN license in state where you work/reside (or NP license)
• BLS certification required per policy
• 2 years of experience in clinical specialty preferred
• Professional certification in the field within 2 years if not currently certified
• Additional education/training or experience may be required by the nurse leader

Responsibilities

• Educates patients and families using teaching-learning principles
• Personalizes instruction considering cultural preferences and learning styles
• Adheres to professional standards of practice
• Develops and updates educational materials for patients and staff
• Evaluates patient/family response to education and health services
• Serves as a resource to nursing staff, students, and community
• Implements new techniques and evidence-based practices
• Documents assessments, education barriers, and patient responses
• Demonstrates strong critical thinking and interpersonal communication
• Supports continuity of education and patient care within the unit
