Qualifications

Job description
About Us: Arizona Health Academy is dedicated to providing high-quality education and training to aspiring Certified Nurse Assistants (CNAs) in Surprise and the surrounding West Valley. We are currently seeking a passionate and experienced Coordinator/ Instructor to join our team.
Job Summary: REQUIRED, RN license for this position. The Director of Education/Instructor will provide oversight for the CNA Training Program, ensuring compliance with Arizona State Board of Nursing regulations. This role involves supervising, evaluating, and instructing students to develop into mature and responsible Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs). The Director of Education/Instructor will also contribute to the ongoing improvement of the program.
Responsibilities:
  1. Adhere to all statutes, rules, and regulations set forth by the Arizona State Board of Nursing for the nursing assistant training program.
  2. Maintain, promulgate, and adhere to all written policies and procedures consistent with the standards set forth by the Arizona State Board of Nursing.
  3. Supervise and evaluate the nursing assistant training program, instructors, and healthcare professionals.
  4. Ensure instructors meet Arizona State Board of Nursing qualifications.
  5. Provide written policies to students on or before the first day of the program.
  6. Instruct assigned classes, guiding the learning process toward curriculum goals using current and relevant educational materials.
  7. Create a positive and nurturing class environment conducive to learning.
  8. Assess student accomplishments regularly and provide progress reports.
  9. Enforce a grading policy meeting or exceeding Arizona State Board of Nursing requirements.
  10. Ensure student health requirements are met.
  11. Supervise students providing client care, adhering to Arizona State Board of Nursing requirements.
  12. Create instructional resources and educational materials.
  13. Make equipment and supplies recommendations for the program.
  14. Take precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  15. Maintain accurate records as required by law, administrative, and Arizona State Board of Nursing regulations.
  16. Submit documentation to the State Board, including records and reports.
  17. Evaluate and correct deficiencies in the program.
  18. Be available to students for education-related purposes outside regular instructional hours.
  19. Plan and supervise assignments and activities for teacher assistants, student teachers, or volunteers.
  20. Maintain and improve currency in the field and professional competence.
  21. Attend staff meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
  22. Initiate the renewal of program approval and prepare and submit appropriate application materials.
  23. Make the program available for on-site unannounced evaluations by the Arizona State Board of Nursing.
  24. Perform other duties as assigned or required.
Knowledge and Skills:
  1. Knowledge of applicable Federal, state, county, and city statutes, rules, policies, and procedures.
  2. Knowledge of Arizona State Board of Nursing statutes, rules, and standards.
  3. Knowledge of teaching strategies and methods in the classroom, laboratory, and clinical setting.
  4. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relations.
  5. Skill in operating a personal computer with various software applications.
Minimum Qualifications:
  1. Current Registered Nurse License in good standing.
  2. Minimum of two years of nursing experience, with at least one year in long-term care facility services.
Requirements:
  1. CPR and First Aid certification.
  2. Successful completion of fingerprint and background clearance check.
  3. Ability to obtain and maintain an Arizona driver’s license.
  4. Ability to lift and carry heavy supplies and materials weighing up to 20 pounds.
