Job summary

Mercy is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join the Critical Care Stepdown team at Mercy Hospital St. Louis. This part-time position offers days or nights and 24 hours per week, with opportunities to work across day and night shifts in an intermediate-acuity care setting.

Qualified candidates will hold a Missouri RN license (or compact) with BLS certification; BSN preferred. Experience in stepdown and collaboration with the care team is valued.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (ADN, Diploma, or BSN).
• BSN preferred.
• Current Missouri RN license or compact license.
• BLS required (American Heart Association).
• ACLS, NIHSS, PCCN or other Stepdown-related certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality care for intermediate-acuity patients transitioning from critical care to Med/Surg.
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care using evidence-based practices.
• Perform accurate hand-offs and bedside shift reporting to maintain patient safety.
• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practitioners, and multidisciplinary partners to optimize outcomes.
• Administer medications, monitor complex conditions (cardiac, respiratory, post-ICU), and support recovery.
• Participate in huddles, shared governance activities, and unit-based quality improvement initiatives.
