Job summary

Mercy Hospital St. Louis is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) for the Intermediate Care Stepdown/Med/Surg transition. Part-time 24 hours per week, day or night shifts, in a collaborative ICU stepdown team.

You will provide high-quality care, perform hand-offs, collaborate with physicians, and participate in unit-based quality initiatives while pursuing ongoing education and career growth within Mercy.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (ADN, Diploma, or BSN).
• BSN preferred.
• Current Missouri RN license or compact license.
• Required: BLS (American Heart Association).
• Preferred: ACLS, NIHSS, PCCN, or other Stepdown-related certifications.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality care for intermediate-acuity patients transitioning from critical care to Med/Surg level.
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care using evidence-based practices.
• Perform accurate hand-offs and bedside shift reporting to maintain patient safety.
• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practitioners, and multidisciplinary partners to optimize patient outcomes.
• Administer medications, monitor complex conditions, and support recovery.
• Participate in huddles, shared governance activities, and unit-based quality improvement initiatives.
