Job summary

Mercy Hospital St. Louis is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to join the Critical Care Stepdown team in a part-time role (24 hours per week, days or nights). The ideal candidate has acute care experience and Missouri RN licensure, with a BSN preferred.

You will provide high-quality care for intermediate-acuity patients transitioning from critical care to Med/Surg, perform accurate hand-offs, administer medications, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to optimize patient outcomes.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (ADN, Diploma, or BSN).
• BSN preferred.
• Current Missouri RN license or compact license.
• BLS required; ACLS/ NIHSS preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality care for intermediate-acuity patients transitioning from critical care to Med/Surg.
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care using evidence-based practices.
• Perform accurate hand-offs and bedside shift reporting to maintain patient safety.
• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practitioners, and multidisciplinary partners to optimize patient outcomes.
• Administer medications, monitor complex conditions (cardiac, respiratory, post-ICU), and support recovery.
• Participate in huddles, shared governance activities, and unit-based quality improvement initiatives.
